TAX MANAGER

The Tax Manager’s primary responsibility is management of sales and use taxes; however, this role will also manage fuel tax credits and assist with certain aspects of federal and state income tax compliance and reporting.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collect data necessary for determination of sales and use tax

  • Analyze fuel tax credits for federal and state claims

  • Ensure accurate and timely filing of sales and use tax returns

  • Work with external tax advisors to ensure best practices in tax compliance and planning

  • Process tax payments as necessary

  • Reconcile tax accounts

  • Research and provide guidance on indirect tax matters including sales and use tax exemption requirements and taxation of various transactions

  • Monitor changes in relevant tax law and determine impact to the company

  • Assist with management of tax audits

  • Resolve notices from taxing authorities

  • Develop and maintain internal controls related to tax processes

  • Ensure robust documentation of tax positions and processes

  • Identify and mitigate tax risks

  • Assist with integration and alignment of indirect tax processes for newly acquired companies

  • Assist with legal entity mapping of trial balances

  • May be assigned other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 18 years of age or older

  • Eligible to work in the United States

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting

  • 5 years' experience with sales tax

  • In-depth knowledge of state and local sales tax laws and regulations

  • Understanding of accounting for indirect taxes

  • Ability to interact with taxing authorities to favorably resolve issues

  • Ability to work well with other business functions in a team setting

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • NetSuite experience a plus but not required

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY/WORKING CONDITIONS MAY INCLUDE:

  • Position is generally sedentary, sitting for long periods of time, with occasional mobility in an office environment

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds

  • Be able to hear and respond to the spoken voice and to audible alarms generated by an office environment

  • Ability to access and interpret information in print and electronically, including the use of adaptive technologies or methods as necessary

  • Effectively communicate with colleagues and clients, both in-person and through electronic means

  • Tasks may involve repetitive motions of the wrists, hands and or fingers due to continuous typing or writing

  • Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); Distance Vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more); Color Vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors); Peripheral Vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point); Depth Perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); Ability to Adjust Focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)
